Bi-Habawalk Inc is a non-profit organization (tax exempt) devoted to promoting personal growth, social awareness, and overall community enhancement through the performing arts and education. It uses drama, dance, music, and dialects to inform and inspire while fostering appreciation of African and Caribbean cultures.
The mission of Bi-Habawalk Inc is to prevent children and young people from engaging in negative behaviors (including substance abuse, teen pregnancy, dropping out, and violence) and to promote improved academic performance, interpersonal skill development, acquisition of responsible values, and positive identity formation. Our vision is to partner with agencies and donors to transform the lives of many struggling children, adolescents, and adults in the impoverished communities of New York City. An ultimate goal is to enable participants to provide for themselves and lead rich, socially responsible lives, thus reducing poverty and enhancing the quality of life for all community residents.
We are seeking talented and conscientious volunteer board members.
An individual who will be thoughtful, who has leadership skills and are interested in exploring our mission and vision, we especially are looking for folks with donor cultivation experience, previous Board experience, with backgrounds in accounting, graphic design, computer skills, administrative/business, planning, fundraising, financial, public relations/media, legal knowledge, human resources (Facilitation) program/services expertise.
Some one that is willingness to invest time, energy and help raise funds for the organization become involved in an active way, attend regular meetings that may be schedule on line, by phone, and any meeting that takes place between Board members.
